Welcome back to another week of inspiring and Uplifting Stories: your weekly reminder that not everything in the world is bad!
Sometimes it can seem so hard to see the good things in the world, especially when there's so much doom and gloom out there.
It's not that we should avoid thinking about or trying to do something when we hear about injustice, or environmental change, or hate, or even inflation. These are real things that we CAN make change around.
But we still need to see examples of positive change happening. It acts as motivation, sure, but it also reminds us that a lot of change happens slowly, and that doesn't mean it's not effective or powerful. We can be effective and powerful too. In whatever tiny, shining moments we can find.
Don't give up.
This week we've found adorable stories about:
As Tiktok poster @osogabi found, kindness is all around us - if we're paying attention.
A young woman shopping in Colombia peered into a clothing boutique window and spied not just clothing, but a stray dog snoozing in the front display. It seems the tenderhearted staff there do this often, understanding that hot days and no shelter can be particularly hard for the strays in the neighborhood.
“He goes inside often and is fed by the girls [who work there], he and other furry ones,” she said. “Because of this hot climate, they look for very cool places, and what better than a store with air conditioning?” - from The Dodo
You can catch a glimpse of the sweet sleeping dog here.

The fashion industry is one of highest polluters in the world.
But innovative businesses are popping up all over the world with sustainable, yet still fashion-forward solutions. Enter Mexican based company Desserto - a business that's figured out a way to make fashion from cacti.
From 'leather' jackets to purses and even shoes or chairs! Once the mature cactus leaves have been dried, they're mixed with a non-chemical solution and the result is a material that can be shaped into any texture. They even collaborate with yacht makers.
Desserto says their 'leather' lasts for up to 10 years, and their selection of fashionable choices is staggering. How do they come up with this stuff?
You can follow Desserto's journey on their Instagram page.
Every morning before he heads off to school, 5-year-old Cohen Nordin does his daily affirmations with his nanny, college student Eva Abfalter.
In the video, you can hear little Cohen saying:
What makes this even more remarkable is that Cohen, who has Downs Syndrome, has had issues with his speech, and had very limited speech before they started with their ritual. For the last year, they've been practicing in secret and got to surprise his mum with a sweet video.
This passionate young woman is studying language and speech pathology and wants to be in a position to help more kids like Cohen, who she says are just as capable if not more than anyone else, they just might need to try a little harder.
With people like Eva in the world, we know this is possible!
Every year in the fourth quarter, 7th graders at Hoover Middle School in Buffalo, NY get to take part in Mrs. Bacon's Kindness Project.
"It's so important for me for my students to realize that kindness matters." - 7th grade teacher, Mrs. Bacon
She had her students come up with some of their own ideas for how they could best spread kindness in the community.
One idea was making 115 birthday bags for students in need.
Some of the kids even went out and mowed their neighbors' lawns, saying it felt good to use their own time to help someone else.
Another student went out and made cookies for her local fire department, saying she doesn't think they always get enough appreciation and a lot of them are volunteers.
Mrs. Bacon says she loves to see the kids starting to understand how kindness makes other people feel good, and can create a chain reaction where those people then want to go out and spread kindness as well. Way to go Mrs. Bacon!
And that's a wrap for another week. As always, if you have a delightful story of people helping each other, or making someone's life a little easier, please reach out to us in the comments below, or send us a message on our Instagram page.
See you next week! Until then, take care of yourselves.
